First presented at the 1967 Salon des artistes et décorateurs in Paris, the Orion has since been a gorgeous example of mid-century French design. It has the typical design Max Sauze is known for: bent aluminium strips mounted on a steel wire armature, assembled into a spherical form that shifts in character depending on the quality of light. Switched off, it reads as sculpture. Illuminated, the layered blades diffuse a warm, ambient glow throughout the space.
This example is in very good vintage condition, with light traces of use in keeping with its age. The original designer label is intact.
