Deck chairs, yes — but the kind that suggest a terrace alongside the lake rather than a caravan site.  So think 'yacht', not 'camping'. Imagine you sitting in it, a nice, cold drink in your hand, enjoying the sun in your cool (Italian?) sunglasses. Yes, thàt's the spirit...

This is a pair of folding armchairs by Reguitti, the Brescia manufacturer that spent the postwar decades quietly patenting its way through Italian folding furniture (124 patents between 1946 and 1966, if you're counting — more than Fiat). Even Ico Parisi and Gio Ponti both designed for Reguitti over the years, which only illustrates their quality and style.

Solid beech wood throughout, in a warm honey finish. Slatted back, gently curved comfortable seat slats, and generously wide flat armrests. The scissor mechanism is reinforced with aluminium stretchers and machine-finished corner caps — the sort of detail that explains why these still open and close properly fifty years on, while their contemporaries went to the tip.

Both chairs carry the gold 'Reguitti — Made in Italy' mark on the rear. And when it says 'Made in Italy', we already get a little warmer, even without the sun.

Excellent vintage condition: bright, even finish, tight joints, mechanisms operating smoothly. Sturdy enough to actually use, handsome enough that you won't want to fold them away. Which is rather the point.
